Koay Teong Beng is a graduate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, holding an honors degree in Electrical engineering. He worked with a Malaysian IT firm for a few months before joining ARL.

He has experience in the hardware and software design aspects of embedded systems. Currently, he is working on a stochastic tomography experiment aiming to investigate spatial and temporal characteristics of underwater ambient noise. His work mainly involves electronic and mechanical design of the experiment using various design packages along with some basic signal processing.
